Why Super Bowl Champion Saquon Barkley Chose H. Moser & Cie.

The Eagles running back and the Swiss independent introduced a 97-piece Pioneer Cylindrical Tourbillon in Philadelphia, a year after he became a Friend of the Brand.

E-A-G-L-E-S, EAGLES!!!

It's a chant that happens in my house in Atlanta most Sunday afternoons in the fall, but on October 18, I was back in my home city of Philadelphia, at Lincoln Financial Field, no longer chanting it alone. This time, I was joined by just shy of 70,000 fans in the stands.

Imagine the sheer glee I felt when I read the news that Super Bowl champion Saquon Barkley had been named "Friend of the Brand" in October 2025. But why would a staunchly Swiss independent brand, known largely for its stunning dial finishes, intricate complications, and overall simplicity, feel that an American football player would be a proper fit as an ambassador? It largely boils down to two things: heightened attention to their craft, and the importance of family.

Barkley's relationship with the watch brand began organically in May 2025 when he selected the H. Moser & Cie. Endeavour Tourbillon Concept Vantablack to wear with his Thom Browne tuxedo to that year's Met Gala in New York City. That was the beginning of what would turn into not just a partnership, but a genuine friendship between the Meylan brothers of H. Moser & Cie. and the Eagles' star running back.

Barkley unfortunately did not play due to a hamstring injury that happened in Week 4 of the season, resulting in his being ruled out for Week 5, as well as this past week (Week 6) at home. However, even with an Eagles loss, Barkley joined members of the media at a post-Eagles game dinner close to the stadium, where Moser's co-owner, Bertrand Meylan, shed light on how the partnership came to be.

"It was a very natural collaboration." Meylan said. "We met after Saquon wore one of our watches at the Met Gala. Saquon invited us for a coffee at his home, in a very natural way. We got along very well. We met the family, and we always speak about the Moser family and it really clicked that way. We are proud to work together."

Prior to Barkley taking questions from the members of the media in attendance, he doubled down on his relationship with the Meylan family and their independent brand and explained what the original appeal was for him.

"What really caught my attention as I got to do a little research on H. Moser, and getting to meet them, which took it to another level, was that [the brand] felt like it was talking to me, and where I was going, and the trajectory of my life." Barkley said. "As a father, as a man, I felt like the 'hype' stuff is kind of in the past. I had the look where I'd wear skinny jeans and big chains and all that. It's not really my style anymore. It shouldn't be. I'm twenty-nine, I've got three kids and I shouldn't be dressing like I'm twenty-one anyway, and I felt like H. Moser fit that for me, and where I was going in my life."

Regarding their commonality as it pertains to family, Barkley said, "I'm real big on a family-like environment. I got to sit down with them, see what the family was about and how detailed they were. It was a no-brainer for me. I'm super excited with the decision [to partner], and here we are now, coming out with a custom watch."

The Pioneer Cylindrical Tourbillon Skeleton Aventurine Saquon Barkley Edition represents equal parts strength and refinement. Barkley was drawn to the Pioneer collection as a whole but was looking forward to helping create a watch that would pay homage to his years playing football at Penn State University, as well as to the city he now calls home and the fans who show up week after week in Philadelphia and beyond to cheer him on.

The watch strap, made of white rubber, and a navy-blue aventurine dial reflect Penn State's colors, while the hour markers at "2" and "6" glow bright green (the color of the Philadelphia Eagles) via their Super-LumiNova coating. "Working with Moser felt very natural because they really listened to what mattered to me and gave me the freedom to make the design my own. I think the result reflects both their world and mine." said Barkley in a statement about his input in the design.

Design personalization aside, the timepiece is, as are most Moser watches, a marvel to those who are interested in high horology. For the collectors reading this, the watch is powered by the fully skeletonized three-dimensional movement offering a minimum of 74 hours of power reserve (the brand manufactures watches with an average power reserve of three days). From the esthetical side, one will notice a one-minute flying tourbillon with a skeletonized bridge around the 6 o'clock hour, and a fully skeletonized oscillating weight, which can be seen through the watch's crystals. The case is made of stainless steel, and measures 42.8mm.

The Pioneer Cylindrical Tourbillon Skeleton Aventurine Saquon Barkley Edition is limited to 97 pieces, representing Barkley's birth year, and retails for $99,600.
