New releases

TAG Heuer released two limited editions of its Formula 1 Solargraph ahead of the final Dutch Grand Prix, which runs August 21 to 23 at Zandvoort and leaves the calendar after this year. Both are in a bold orange, the color worn by Max Verstappen's supporters at the circuit since the race returned in 2021. Each has a 38mm sandblasted steel case, an orange bi-directional TH-Polylight bezel, a grey opaline dial with an orange and red flange, red-lacquered hands and indices carrying eggshell Super-LumiNova, and a date window at the three o'clock position. Inside is the Solargraph Calibre TH50-00, which is a quartz movement powered entirely by any light source, natural or artificial, and good for up to 10 months on a full charge. It's priced at $2,150 on a matching orange rubber strap in an edition of 1,500 pieces, or $2,250 on a sandblasted steel bracelet in an online-exclusive edition of 1,000 pieces.

Fears introduced the last of its jump hour editions, the Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour 'Ultimus', in collaboration with Andrew Morgan, the British watch content creator behind Andrew Morgan Watches. The most prominent features of this version are the visibility of the hour disc that is usually hidden in the brand's other jump hour editions, and the luminous dial. The dial is built from three sapphire elements sitting above the hour display: an outer ring with a black gradient, a frosted semi-transparent minute track, and a textured luminous center carrying printed minute plots. The current hour, at the twelve o'clock position, reads through an integrated magnifying window, the first Fears jump hour without a cut-out in the dial at twelve. Its base movement is a Sellita SW200, with the addition of a JJ01 jumping-hour module from Christopher Ward, good for a 38-hour power reserve, all housed in a 40.5mm steel cushion-shaped case. It's available in a one-week order window between August 10 and 17, and is priced at $4,600 with strap only, or $4,900 with a strap and a bracelet.

Panerai introduced the Luminor Marina PAM01707 in a lightweight composite Carbotech case. Carbotech is not new to the Luminor Marina, and the blue-lumed PAM02661 remains in the collection; what is new here is the dial. It has many other familiar Panerai design elements, with a cushion-shaped 44mm case, round bezel, and signature crown protector, all rendered in Carbotech, and a DLC-coated titanium caseback. Panerai lists the finished watch at 100 grams, water resistant to 300 meters. The black sandwich dial has cutouts for the indices and numerals, backed by beige Super-LumiNova rather than the usual white or blue, with small seconds at the nine o'clock position and no date. It comes with two straps, one in brown leather that plays off the warm tones of the SuperLuminova numerals and indices, and the other in black rubber, echoing the darkness of the case and dial. Powering the watch is the P.9010 caliber, with a three-day power reserve and a quick-set hour hand. It's available now and is priced at $15,600.

Industry news

Morgan Stanley, in conjunction with market analysis firm WatchCharts, published its second-quarter report on July 17, noting an overall +1.5% uptick in secondary market prices in the second quarter of 2026, a fourth consecutive quarter of gains exceeding +1% though down from +2.5% in each of the two quarters before it. Secondary market prices for all three major groups increased, with LVMH leading the pack at +1.7%, Richemont up +1.3%, and Swatch Group up +1.0%. Brands singled out in the report were Richemont's Cartier and Vacheron Constantin at +2.2% and +1.4% respectively, with LVMH's TAG Heuer up +3.8% and Swatch Group's Omega up +0.9%. Value retention, defined as the premium or discount that an in-production watch trades for on the secondary market relative to its retail price, improved for seven of the eight brands tracked against the first quarter, despite retail price increases. Patek Philippe leads that measure at 15.4%, ahead of Rolex at 9.8% and Audemars Piguet at 3%. Every other brand tracked still trades below retail.

Time+Tide announced its own watch fair, FounderFest, which will take place September 19-20 simultaneously at its three Watch Discovery Studios, in Melbourne, London, and New York. Seven participating brands have each made a Time+Tide Studio Edition for the occasion, with offerings from Awake, Baltic, Beaucroft, Dennison, echo/neutra, Furlan Marri, and Serica. Details are at thefounderfest.com. The watches go on sale worldwide online in a 24-hour window beginning September 22, after which they are sold only at the three studios.
