Every company has a story to tell, and this is ours. We do more than just sell watches, we believe in something bigger.
Crown & Caliber is an online, modern solution for buying and selling watches. This is a big purchase and we don’t think it should be overwhelming or risky. Essentially, we’re your watch guide. We’ll help you find something new for your wrist or help you leave behind something that you just aren’t that into anymore. Whichever solution you need, we strive to make sure that you leave feeling confident you made the right choice.
It started over lunch
Like many ideas, this one began over lunch. After hearing a friend lament his watch-selling experience involving countless hours in the car, sketchy parking lot invitations, and one foreign prince scam, our CEO and Founder, Hamilton Powell, knew there had to be a better way to transact in this space. So, after a ton of research, Crown & Caliber began as a seller’s platform. It then evolved, as all good things do, into a place where you could buy and sell with ease. Now, we carry 40 plus brands, own every watch on our site and complete tens of thousands of transactions each year.
So, what makes us different?
We stay on top of the market, letting the data, not gut feelings, determine pricing.
We are a no-pressure environment. We just want to help and guide you, not force you into something you don’t absolutely love.
Every watch that comes through our doors is authenticated and performance-tested, ensuring that it’s running the way it was intended.
We stand behind our watches and work. So every watch comes backed with a 1-year warranty.
We’ve invested in a team Swiss-certified watchmakers, experienced technicians, and refinishers.
We offer a risk-free experience, which in non-marketing speak means if you don’t like the watch, send it back. Oh, and the shipping and in-transit insurance is on us.
How we treat our watches is an important piece of our company, but how we treat customers and each other is also of the utmost importance. This is why we have built our company around certain values.
to grow and change the world around us through hard work and innovative solutions
that elevate others above ourselves through our thoughts, words, and actions
to build others up and change the course of lives, even if just marginally
by delivering the most value possible and never becoming stagnant
by giving of our talents and resources to leave a lasting impact on this earth

Hamilton is passionate about building great teams and an insanely powerful culture. He is kind of obsessive about it. His motto is "Live for the line, not the dot." – and that belief resonates in every customer interaction we have. It is the key reason for our success.

For the better part of 20 years, I have led teams that put customers and their experience first. I started in autos, first working at my Dad’s lot as a teenager, and then moved into the car industry behind-the-scenes after a stint in management consultant. From cars, watches seemed like a natural progression to an industry ready to evolve.
I’m not only passionate about the customer experience and driving innovation, I also love building teams - growing leaders along the way. I believe using data, innovation, and some grit you will achieve a lot of wins. When I’m not at Crown & Caliber, you can find me hanging out with my wife and two boys exploring outside.

In college I was an Chemical Engineering and then an Engineering physics major until I decided I wanted to be more of a "people person." So, I switched to accounting. Not sure what that says about me, but it definitely says something.
For 25+ years I have enjoyed being a CPA with Price Waterhouse and partnering with the executives of companies in a variety as both a financial expert and an experienced businessman. Crown & Caliber encompasses what I find most compelling and exciting about business – a tremendous team of people all striving to achieve challenging business objectives in a culture that honors both our customers and our employees.
And the answer to your question is: "No, I don’t remember how to use a slide rule!".
