After creating the first self-winding chronograph movement in 1969, the Breitling company invented a whole range of chronographs and named them "Chrono-Matics". The Chrono-matic has a 49 mm-diameter case, reflecting that this is a forerunner of extremely large watches. The design of the watch, including the straight hands and the steel mesh bracelet, also reflect the style of the era. The four models are the Chrono-Matic Blacksteel, 1461, 49, and QP, which each offer a slight variation from the original Chrono-matic. The Blacksteel offers an innovative design in this 2000-piece limited series. It comes with a black steel case and a red rubber-molded bidirectional rotating bezel. The Chrono-Matic 1461 comes equipped with a refined calendar mechanism that only requires one adjustment every leap year. The movement is made up of more than 450 parts, and the months are displayed by rectilinear hands. The Chrono-Matic QP is a limited edition that includes an ultra-sophisticated perpetual calendar system. This design is the perfect medium between traditional and contemporary elements. Since its inception in the 1960s, the Chrono-matic has been known for is unique yet traditional style, a reputation that it can still claim today.
